Nigella's Sweet and Salty Crunchy Nut Bars

This is my favourite Christmas treat, so much so that I've quit buying tins of sweets. I make alarmingly large batches of this and chop into various sizes. My sister just loves it and last year I sent her home with lunch boxes full of it! This is another of my scribbled down recipes in my now very tattered note book, but I'm very sure it is a Nigella recipe. I suspect it is from a Christmas special. This is part of my edible Christmas gifts posts, Enjoy.

Yield 40 pieces

200g Milk chocolate
100g Dark chocolate
125g Unsalted butter
1 x 15ml tbsp Golden syrup
250g Salted peanuts
2  Crunchie bars, crushed (2 x 40g)

Line a 20cm x 30cm roasting dish or better still a disposable foil tin. Get the butter and the golden syrup melting in a large bowl in the microwave in 30 second intervals and break up the chocolates and add that to the butter and golden syrup, continue melting. Stir to mix.

Put the peanuts and crushed crunchies into medium mixing bowl. When the chocolate mixture has just melted, pour it over the nut mixture and stir together.

Pour into prepared tin, and spread out and flatten as much as you can.

Cover and refrigerate for a few hours before cutting into small bite sized pieces.
