Spinach and Beetroot Smoothie
This is a healthy and surprisingly tasty smoothie is well worth a try. With the sweet baby spinach leaves adding to your Iron intake in the day and the earthy beetroot giving the smoothie it's distinctive deep scarlet colour this is a healthy treat in a glass.
I try to be health conscious and increase my daily intake of fruit and vegetables, it can be difficult sometimes - but the smoothie helps me achieve that goal. This is a modest and inexpensive means to achieve it, any liquidiser will blend the fruit and vegetables into a drink and before you know it you are sitting back drinking a smooth vibrant glass of goodness.
Ingredients
Handful of baby spinach leaves
200ml-300ml Apple juice or water
1 Red apple, cored
Handful of red seedless grapes
125g - 250g Cooked beetroot to taste
½- 1 tsp Wheatgrass powder (optional)
Method
Place the juice/water into the blender first to ensure an accurate measure, add the remainder of the ingredients and until smooth and serve immediately with a stirrer.
Handy Tip: If you want to disguise the spinach then blend it first along with the apple juice/water until it is smooth, add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
